When I was in college I was a parent so the very idea that I would go on Spring Break was ludicrous but even more so since I never did see what all the fuss was about. You go to a sandy location wearing next to nothing, appear on MTV and hope like hell your mom and dad do not catch that episode.
Well, now I see what the attraction is for the young at heart, it is a simple expression of the love of freedom from all things responsible and as a young person you damn well should take part in this whole event. Just be careful okay?
When the resident 18 year old decides she is going to go, I will do the whole head spinning and crying jag thing but in the end it will be fine. I know 18 has a good head on her shoulders and should any male 18 get any funny ideas he will go home with a black eye, which suits me just fine. You kids should have a grand time, because when you are older that wont be happening very much.
If you are a student or a parent who is trying to find affordable lodgings and travel packages for spring break vacations you will find a multitude of places to start the search, good hunting!
Here is a taste of the Answer, the band opening for AC/DC ( and your right … this guy does sound a tad like early early Robert Plant) They definitely have the sound I love, a band to keep an eye on.
If you are are trying to find an inexpensive means of calling overseas, tryPhone Cards. The rates as I am seeing so far, are not bad at all. I have to find a card I can use to call Japan, as my cable company is high I feel and I know I can do better with a card due to their being so competitive right now.
If you purchase aPrepaid Phone Card just make sure you check out rates from a few different companies so you get the lowest rate but also watch out for connection fees and other little fees. Compare cards and you will find a great deal. Calling Cards are a really great way of staying in touch with family and friends who are not in the US and Canada and are also really great to have in a emergency, I have two in my wallet just for emergencies.
I always thank the stars that we have blogs, some of the most interesting information that I learn is from a blog written on a topic I most read on. I actually found this a few days ago and never had the chance to complete my post until today.
Side note ~ have you noticed how handsome Jimmy is looking? That hair is very nice on him
Okay, end of the girly moment.
I like the beginning of the first paragraph on the website for It Might Get Loud :
“who hasn’t wanted to be a rock star, join a band or play electric guitar?”
Well, me actually but that is besides the point, for the record though.. I wanted to be the person who followed the bands and reported on them, brought the latest news of the bands to the fans whether by radio or print.
But I would be safe I think in saying that probably 99.9 percent of all teenagers since the 1950′s has either wanted to be a singer or a band member playing some instrument.
This movie is filmed “through the eyes of three virtuosos ( nice term) who come from three different generations of music( here I would argue that Page transcends generational boundaries ) which lets the viewers go along for the journey through each musicians musical roots and lives and lets us see how they each used the electric guitar to become who they are today.
The three musicians in the film are Jimmy Page, The Edge and Jack White and it is produced by Davis Guggenheim, of An Inconvenient Truth fame.
In the press release for the film, in the Q&A section when asked why make this film, Thomas Tull ( Producer) replies that as a fan he wanted to have a movie that “Captured the essence of why people are fanatic about the guitar“. And as for the reasons for choosing Page, White, and The Edge Tull said that it was a bit like casting a movie in that he wanted to show the varying styles and eras and choosing the worlds three best players who cover three generations.
In the Q & A with Davis Guggenheim , Guggenheim was asked why make this film? Davis said that Tull gave a passionate presentation about the electric guitar, stating that no one had ever made a film that presented WHY the guitar has been so influential on society as a whole.
What this film is NOT is another trip down memory lane filled with the bad days, overdoses and soap opears of the various guitarists, and for that I am grateful. We can watch A * E for that stuff.
A few special moments that Davis mentions as his favorites are being able to film in Pages home ( something never done before) and Page played albums from his when he was in the early days of his music career, and a surprise moment that I as a fan of Page’s will N OT ruin for ya
I think this is going to be a real music fans movie, not one for the person who just wants to know the dirt but for those of us who want to know why Page ended up being who he is.
I can’t wait to see this film.
