And he stands in front of a Sopwith Camel Aircraft! Anyone recall Sopwith Camel????? The Band I mean???

My son is home from Japan for a visit before he goes to his next post, so my posts for today will be a bit different. I will be back later this evening to post todays Video pick, but I saw this photo at Flickr in the Commons Project they are doing with Library of Congress and felt I had to share.

History is awesome isn’t it?

I do happen to recall this particular song being Doug Kurth’s theme song on his late-night show over KDKA Pittsburgh (traditionally regarded as America’s first radio station) in the mid-1980′s.

(Here in the Midwest, though, we consider WHA-AM in Madison, Wisconsin–flagship of Wisconsin Public Radio–to be the nation’s oldest radio station, beginning Morse-code transmissions as 9XM in 1916; the WHA call was assigned in 1922.)

And would you remember when the long-running comic strip Peanuts occasionally had Snoopy’s doghouse becoming a Sopwith Camel in endless pursuit of The Red Baron?
