Damn Yankees * and damned drivers *

Okay rant first ~

I live in Kentucky and today went south to London Ky. It is raining, keep that face in mind please. So the only way to London is either taking State Route 25 ( the old North – South highway) or I/75. I hate and abhor I75, would rather chew my own arm off than take that highway anywhere. We took 25 south on the way down, not bad.

After doing my shopping the DH decided that he was not into pandering to my fears and took 75. It is raining, not your cute little drizzel but the whole 40 days and 40 nights deal. 15 feet in front of your car you could not see the car lights let alone the cars.

So here we all are, clocking 75-80 on an aged , f8ed up road that Hadrian would be embarrassed to ride on. Pot holes, cracks, jumps you name it. And the best part? Demon truck drivers and idiot drivers. Here you are in the fast lane trying to stay in the clear spots because to get caught in the ponding water is certain death, and what comes up on your right? Little Miss S for brains doing 90 and yes, she passes us and pulls in front of us with like 10cm to spare for room. All the while the truckers have decided it was the day to try and take me out and are all around me , have you ever been boxed in by demon truck drivers?

Bottom line – idiot drivers, better hope you don’t pull those stunts when I am driving, jail can’t be that bad as far as I am concerned and oh, take a drivers course!

I say two things need to be done, some one has to teach these ‘ladies’ how to freaking drive and then they need to construct a road system for the truckers where I don’t have to be near them.

I think UPS would have been really interested in how one of their double trucks was driving by the way, he is lucky I could not get my camera to take a clear shot of his ass.

Phew……. I am done ( sort of )

This particular song -Don’t Tread On Me by the Damn Yankees was used by the Jericho fans due to the fact that in the last two shows of Jericho the Dont Tread on Me Flag was prominent.

I like the song because when I am particularity ticked off ( today for example) it feels good to hear really loud.

The most amazing video of Dolphin behavior I have ever seen

To those who know my family , the love of animals is paramount with us. We save any animals we can and make sure those we can not personally save are taken where there are no kill rules so that they can have loving homes. We even have the family Official Turtle Rescue Mission.

So to hear that Dolphins are now displaying intriguing behaviour I had to see for myself what the fuss was. This news hit on ABC News with Charles Gibson.

Seems that the Dolphins at Sea World have begun to play in a way no other dolphins have shown before. They are blowing bubbles with their blow-holes and playing with them! They make the rings larger and then smaller and twirl it around like a hula hoop. The biologists at the park state that they think this may be learned behaviour passed on to each generation, mostly by the females.

I have long thought that Dolphins were sentient beings, not unlike ourselves. They have been used by the US Navy in the past, and show great proclivity for learning complex work. They seem to talk to each other and to humans and even show great care in protecting humans and other animals from shark attack.

To know that they are once again trying to communicate via this behavior is pretty cool, and I can not wait to go see this for myself.

Lauriepalooza benefits Unconditional Love Animal Rescue

The following is from the San Jose Mercury News ~
By Sal Pizarro

‘Beach Blanket Babylon’ tips its hat to San Jose’

ROCKIN’ GOOD TIME: About 30-plus years of South Bay music history got together Saturday night at Peachwood’s Steakhouse at Pasatiempo for a send-off of employees recently laid off by Clear Channel.

Among the musicians performing were Robert Berry, founder of Soundtek Studios in Campbell, San Jose Rocks founder Dan Orloff, session man Dale Okkerman,

longtime Doobie Brother Tiran Porter, Greg Kihn and his morning show partner Chris Jackson, and three bands that have won KFOX’s Last Band Standing contest: the Groove Kings, the Megatones and the Sun Kings.

The crowd of 100 guests raised nearly $1,000 for Unconditional Love Animal Rescue. The party was dubbed “Lauriepalooza” in honor of longtime South Bay DJ Laurie Roberts, who said it may become an annual event.

I hope we will get to see photos of the event and more stories from the folks who attended. I am very glad to see a great turnout for Laurie and even happier to see such a great amount raised for Unconditional Love Animal Rescue. Our family believes wholeheartedly in saving all animals ( as can be seen in how many animals we have taken in over the last few years ourselves, we love kitties and puppies :-)

Boating is a Summer Event to be enjoyed , so please take care

Here in Kentucky, we love our summers. We love to get the boats out and get into some water, no matter where that water maybe we will travel to it and love every minute of the journey. Have you ever spent a day on the lake? How about a few days in a row? You get into this place where time almost stands still, and you begin to feel like you did when you were a teenager and all things were possible.

I loved our boat, I admit at first I was not so happy that we got it. My husband just kept saying give it a chance, lets see how you feel after a day on the lake and he was so right. My first day out was like a revelation, I had a total blast. Only thing we were missing was the tunes , maybe in the next boat.

But there is a serious side to boat ownership , it’s not all fun and games. You have to watch out for other boaters if you are out swimming. And you have to be on the lookout for swimmers if you are driving on the lake. And the weather, round these parts a storm can spring up in 10 minutes right over your head, so you have to be aware of that.

Sadly one of the biggest things that folks with boats do not always consider is the fact thatBoating and Alcohol Don’t Mix. We lose people here in Kentucky every year for this very reason. Who needs to be drinking on a boat anyway, the high is from skimming over the waves at light speed ( if you are in my husbands boat that is) the sun on your face and all the beauty of Kentucky Lake life surrounding you.

If you ever come to either northern Tennessee or southern Kentucky you take a few days and come boating at Lake Cumberland. You will literally be able to spend hours exploring each and every little inlet and be able to follow the lake all the way down to Tennessee via the river.
I can tell you this, sitting and soaking the sun in while watching you kids swim in the lake is a memory you will be glad you made! Just be careful okay?
