Michael Been of The Call ~

I have told my kids a million times over the years that I have forgotten more music than they will ever hear…. and sometimes something happens to make that true, today is one of those times.

One of my favorite movies from the 80′s is Lost Boys, because of the story line ( yes… I said it, story line :) and of course, the fact that it was supposed to be my dear home Santa Cruz. I also loved it as I did all the other great movies of the decade because of the music. I am a simple girl who loves her simple memories.

One of the songs in Lost Boys was a cover of Michaels’ song I Still Believe ~

and When the Walls Came Down -

Michael died of a heart attack at the very young age of 60 on the 20th of this month while backstage at Pukkelpop

Festival in Belgium. The Call recorded 10 albums from 1980 to 2000, with the two videos above among the most popular songs. Fans of the Call included Peter Gabriel who called the band ” the future of American Music”, and toured with the Call on the Shock the Monkey Tour , as well as Jim Kerr of Simple Minds.

Each time one of the talents of the 1980s leaves us, I feel a tiny piece of who I am , was… leave as well. Somewhere out there in the heavens, I believe that there is one hell of a concert getting ready to start.

Here’s to you my little loves with blessings from above
Now let the day begin

Scorpions ~ One last rockin hurricane

What do you say about a band that has influenced, rocked and loved its fans for over 40 years? I can tell you right now, that it would be nigh to impossible for me to pick my favorite song from the Scorpions, I love them all.

I can see how they love the fans, always have ~

Important Message to our Fans

Google News Link -

It was always our pleasure, our purpose in life, our passion and we were fortunate enough to make music for you – whether it was live on stage or in the studio, creating new songs.

While we were working on our album these past few months, we could literally feel how powerful and creative our work was – and how much fun we were still having, in the process. But there was also something else: We want to end the Scorpion’s extraordinary career on a high note. We are extremely grateful for the fact that we still have the same passion for music we’ve always had since the beginning. This is why, especially now, we agree we have reached the end of the road. We finish our career with an album we consider to be one of the best we have ever recorded and with a tour that will start in our home country Germany and take us to five different continents over the next few years.

We want you, our fans, to be the first to know about this. Thank you for your never-ending support throughout the years!

We uploaded the very first snippets from our new album for you.

And now… let’s get the party started and get ready for a “Sting in the Tail”!

See you on the world tour,

Yours

Scorpions

Kip Winger to do Interview with Melodic Rock Concerts… got some questions?

Melodic Rock Concerts has got to be one of the best sites for Rock that I have found in some time. It is a a place where once you have read you always check in weekly and you are never disappointed. Some of the more well known sites could definitely take a few notes on how to keep your readership happy from them!

They are also introducing a new inclusion on the site, Rock Concerts Weekly. The first show will be done with some audience participation, and they are asking the fans to call and leave them a message with your questions, comments, thoughts about favorite rocks shows

This week the site reports that they will be doing an interview with Kip Winger of Winger. That’s right ladies, that Winger ;-) . If you have questions for Kip, email the site!

Remember 17 ? ~

and Easy Come , Easy Go ~

and now, Karma. I am really liking Stone Cold Killer. 18 said, they stole the song and sound from Disturbed, specifically referring to the sounds of Pull Me Under ( another awesome call back to the icy sounds of 80s rock! ) I am definitely buying this album, and hope to see them on the circuit in the states soon. I also referred 18 to their best of album from 2001 which she can listen to on their website ( here ) She then battled back with this from Disturbed on youtube – Guarded

One of the best parts of Melodic Rock Concerts site is the really interesting blogs and sites they link to, such as Bring Back Glam. Spent some time reading over there and found a like minded writer who has the desire to see Glam ( and rock ) brought back to where it can be a shining star again!

Links ~
Official Site – Winger the Band
YouTube - Official Winger

Disturbed –
Youtube Official Disturbed

Of course, my favorite from them is always going to be Down with the Sickness :-) * always love the noise *

And now, off to bed with me. Snow is falling yet again and I am wishing for warmth so some Sammy will do me good. Hope you enjoy and I am glad to be back to writing here. Hope you all have had a great holiday time, now lets go do some damage in 2010 :-)

Dreams ~

Thank you Soldiers and JR4OT Friends

Today is the day we all spend time remembering and giving thanks to the men and women past and present who serve our great country. Veterans Day is so very important to my family and friends because it is when we all take the time to reflect on the sacrifices great and small that are made on our behalf each and every day by our brave men and women in uniform.

Normally, I would be either blogging this on my troops blog or spending time talking to my friends who work with the Organization Jericho Rangers 4 Our Troops along with this old gal. Sadly, time will not be spent today with my friends, as we are each facing some private issues , real life sometimes comes first. But I know each of my friends who worked so hard on all the Charity Events for JR4OT as well as other work done as an organization are remembering each and every time they helped make this world a better place. So, while I am thanking my troops for all they sacrifice and do for each person in the USA, I am adding my friends who served on JR4OT as well. You all are true servicemen and women, thank you for all you have done.

I am so proud to know you and work along side you.

Les Paul ~ Lover of Music Gone but never to be forgotten

It is perhaps the worst saying but tonight I can think of no better way to say it, we lost a true Musical Genius, a star amoung stars, a friend to so many generations of musicians and music fans alike. Lester William Polsfuss was born at the time of great changes in our society, the year 1915. By age 9 he was playing guitar and by age 13 professionally with Country bands. He went on to be band leader in the 30′s and 40′s , backing up some of the greats in music from Dinah Shore and Bing Crosby to the Andrew Sisters. His musical legacy will rock through the ages never to be forgotten and so truly hard to write about and do justice.

Anyone who has ever dreamed of playing the guitar, as well as those who have been rocking the fans for decades all owe Les Paul a debt of gratitude for the twang of the notes we love so much.

A much better write up is over at MTV.com which I will link to here. I am just sad that I am not half the rock historian I should be and I am thankful for all the years I listened to any rock band because Les Paul helped them come into our lives in a huge way.

Rock on Les Paul and thank you!
