It is perhaps the worst saying but tonight I can think of no better way to say it, we lost a true Musical Genius, a star amoung stars, a friend to so many generations of musicians and music fans alike. Lester William Polsfuss was born at the time of great changes in our society, the year 1915. By age 9 he was playing guitar and by age 13 professionally with Country bands. He went on to be band leader in the 30’s and 40’s , backing up some of the greats in music from Dinah Shore and Bing Crosby to the Andrew Sisters. His musical legacy will rock through the ages never to be forgotten and so truly hard to write about and do justice.

Anyone who has ever dreamed of playing the guitar, as well as those who have been rocking the fans for decades all owe Les Paul a debt of gratitude for the twang of the notes we love so much.

A much better write up is over at MTV.com which I will link to here. I am just sad that I am not half the rock historian I should be and I am thankful for all the years I listened to any rock band because Les Paul helped them come into our lives in a huge way.

Rock on Les Paul and thank you!

Les Paul, August 13th 2009 age 94

You remember that movie where Micheal Keaton made multiples of himself in order to get his day rolling without losing his mind? Well, I need a machine that will do that for me, as I truly suck at multitasking :-( guess its the age thing again. I am sorry I have been absent from here for a while, there are some things going on such as an illness in my family that I am dealing with as well as my getting my Sons of Anarchy Blog back up again but I missed writing here honestly I did so here I am.

I saw a interesting line of convo over at the KOME facebook page and it made me think that it would be the perfect way to bring back the convo here, and so that is my thought for this blog post today ~

From the 80’s ONLY ( my input to this question )
What video do you think was the all time most ground breaking in any way? You can place your thoughts here, no registration is needed. I really love the idea of being able to have readers place their ideas and views here, it was everyone’s station after all :-p

The KOME FB placed Sledgehammer as the best video of the time ~

And I agree, very artistic and fresh for the time and one of my fav songs from Mr G, but what I want to know is what video do you think is the most innovative?

As of today ( standing up ) I am a Farmville and Farmtown addict. Is this what FB is for? No, probably not… but damn I love the games.
It is really nice to be able to connect to your friends and family as well the odd groups that cover things from your past, such as KOME or old school groups.

Music news…..
Can you imagine still be able to take going to a KISS concert ( this is for the over 45 crowd ) could you take the noise? Is it still worth it to even pay for tickets? Well according to Gene Simmons , this new album is the best they have done in 30 years and the last studio album in 11 years.

I am disappointed that Ace and Peter Kriss are not with the band anymore ( yes…. I am out of it, been doing the Mommy thing for a while ya know ) I had the biggest crush on both Peter and Ace way back when and think they were a big big park of the bands success.
Here is Peter’s Official Web ~ http://www.petercriss.net/homepage/ and one of the bigger Facebook pages ~
and here is Ace’s Official Web ~ http://www.acefrehley.com/
I just don’t know if I can believe they still have what it takes, people age and so do their voices but I am sure willing to wait and give them a listen.

and now for some of my favorite KISS tunes ~

I was made for loving you ( yes, I truly adore this tune LOL )

Missing home today something fierce, so when I found this awesome shot on Flickr had to post it. I love when the sun makes these beautiful colors back home. You just don’t see that anywhere else.

I have been having a blast listening to Laurie Roberts on KBAY and hope they keep her on. I am betting that all her fans have flocked to the station to listen in.

I have been a bit silent here for a while now, music has been taking a back burner to my bead business. I am the Betsy Ross of beaded jewelry lately, getting up at 3 am to work in the quiet of the morning. It is really rather nice to work and listen to my music and the birds out in the woods behind my house wake up.

My ultimate dream is to have a house ( nothing fancy mind you ) up in the hills above Santa Cruz. I want it to be tucked back into the Redwoods ( did I ever mention that I have three Redwoods growing here on my property? No small feat considering we are in KY ;-p) Every morning I would get up, go out onto a nice deck with my coffee and my beads and work, is that too selfish a dream?

Anywho…. over at Melodic Rock Concerts we read that the
Thin Lizzy Tour is off due to drummer Tommy Aldridge’s car accident and the departure of guitarist John Sykes from the band . They were scheduled to make appearances at Moondance Jam and Rocklahoma as well as other venues across the US. Sad, I would have liked the chance to see them.

Listening to Blazy and Bob, and it occurred to me once again that we need to get all the DJ’s of our youth ( okay, my youth) back on the air because it rocks to listen to them. Music progresses and I am getting to a place where I can say with all honesty that I am acclimating nicely but why should we not have our on air personalities from the great days of music??? I am a bit spoiled in that I can listen on line to Laurie, Blazy and Bob and Jona, but I want more damn it. I want them ALL to return :-p
Maybe we can arrange a reunion of everyone for a picnic at the Boardwalk???? Yeah, I love to dream, lol.

And if you need to listen via web and did not know… go to the main website page for KBAY at http://kbay.com/index.php and then just click on the equalizer on the top left. That will take you to where you can choose broadband or low band for listening online! I am really enjoying splitting my time between BOB FM and KBAY, I never listen to any radio here in Kentucky anymore.

Okay, some may wonder why this music blog would not have some type of memorial to Michael Jackson. It is not that I do not enjoy his music, I have since I was 7 years old and it is not that I am not feeling sorry for his death because I really am. But I am not about to do what SO many have been doing, capitalizing on his death. I feel that had his supposed friends been there for real for him, today he may still be with us. It may very well not be true that he was addicted to pain killers but if it is true, he has had so many people in his life that could have, should have done intervention and I hold them accountable in some part.

Where ever he may be at this moment, I do know one thing… he is missing his kids and hopes everyone will remember them in any decisions they may make.
