It’s Thursday Evening ~ Do You Know Where Your Tunes Are? Boston and The Doobie Brothers

You ever have that day when nothing turns out the way you expect? Well, the last four days have been that way for me, one long never ending fight with my email ( causing me to turn to the only other available program that stinks on ice but is at least usable – sort of) now here I sit at 9 pm listening to KFOX online, hoping that some tunes will calm me down enough to get some of my thoughts out here.

I had wanted to post about some music of my youth, the tunes that made me happy as a kid just learning how to rock. One of those tunes was Black Water by the Doobie Brother’s. That tune accompanied my best friend and I on our tire swing in the backyard. We would wind it up so tight, then climb in and let it go……. all the while singing this song! It was perfect on a summers eve. Wow, way back in 1974 yikes! I did not even have a FM radio yet.

Here is my first choice for tonights pick ~ Black Water by the Dobbie Brothers~

Another song that was a big deal with my friends and I was off the Boston Debut Album, Boston in 1976. The all time favorite tune for every single party, gathering or what have you was of course………. Smokin and Foreplay/Longtime.
I always loved to lay claim to Boston, since I was born in West Roxbury :-) but the real attraction to this band was the utter abandon of the music to our young ears. We were just being woken up musically, our style was being born. The likes of Pink Floyd, Aerosmith and Led Zeppelin were all being interwoven into our very souls.

So here is my other choice for tonight ~ Boston – Foreplay/Long Time 1988

and a great video of a 1979 Concert with perfect sound!!!
