Heaven and Hell ~ Dio and company bring us some rock

Work has been kicking my ass lately and some of my blogs are suffering a bit, such as this poor baby. So today while writing the articles for my job ( Ghost writer ) I decided to listen to Blazy and Bob and I heard their short interview with Ronnie James Dio about the new band Heaven and Hell , the album The Devil You Know ( which I am going to be downloading to my Zune shortly, yeah baby instant music gratification) and the tour. You can get ALL the info on this at the website Dio and also at Geezer Butler’s website

I will be posting my views on the album after I have listened to it.

The 10 Greatest Metal Songs of All Time

So I was watching VH1 the other morning (reasons for a true Rock Fan to be watching VH1? 5 am and sick of CNN) and watch the show 40 Greatest Metal Songs with Sebastian Back as Show Host. Note for the ladies, he still looks nice…… very nice.

I think I caught the show at number 30 something. I have huge issues with who they placed in each slot and decided to make my own list, a shorter one but better. Do you remember Head Bangers Ball, I mean when it was originally on? I lived for Saturday evenings, I would get my kids so tired by running them around the park a gazillion times. They would be ready for bed by 9 or so, and then I was free! But sadly, that was when MTV actually was a great station to watch, too bad they had to go and conform the way they did.

So without any further fanfare……… the ten greatest Metal Songs of all time ~

10. Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap ~

Why this song in number 10? Because I cut out all the damned fluff VH1 decided to line that show with and well, some one had to be in this slot.

9. Metallica – Enter The Sandman ~

I loved this album, to me Metallica came across as philosophers almost. I would listen so intently to each song and place it into events in my life.

7. Quite Riot – Mental Health ~

Definitely a song I listened to just to have fun. Some tunes do not have to be deep just head banging, am I right?

6. AC/DC – Back in Black ~

Beats that make u feel like you could beat up the Hulk, nuff said.

5. Judas Priest – Metal Gods ~

4. Metallica ~ My Friend of Misery ~

If asked what song off Metallicas Black Album was the all time best ( and it would be hard to choose just one) I would have to say My Friend of Misery. Check out the words ~

You just stood there screaming
Fearing no one was listening to you
They say the empty can rattles the most
The sound of your voice must soothe you
Hearing only what you want to hear
And knowing only what youve heard
You youre smothered in tragedy
Youre out to save the world

3. Scorpions – Animal Magnetism ~

While I could have chosen many of thier songs, this one opens with the most deliousous of sounds which is my love in all things metal, how the song opens…. does it pump through my blood and make me feel unreal?

2. Dio – Rainbow In The Dark ~

1. Ozzy – Crazy train ~
Okay here VH1 and I totally disagree, the Oz man takes the cake for metal anything each and every time. I bow to the King of Metal.
And I have to say this, Ozzy is the happiest man I have ever seen and I loved watching his show.:-)

And while I could not fit it into the 10 best, this song is just a plain cool memory of my early days of Rocking………. so here ya go.

So there you have it, my choices for the best of Metal. I hope everyone had a great day today, with lots of kids running around screaming in ecstasy as all mine were. It is not Christmas morning with out squeals of happiness from the kids.

Whole Lotta Led Zeppelin: The Illustrated History of the Heaviest Band of All Time

After reading a week or so ago the trash talk that is passing for written words concerning Led Zeppelin ( by Mick Wall) in a San Jose Mercury Piece, I was so happy to see that there is another book out on the most awesome of bands, Whole Lotta Led Zeppelin: The Illustrated History of the Heaviest Band of All Time, by Jon Bream.
This looks like it is going to be a great read with all the flavor and feel that we are inspired to feel while listening to the band.
If you have read it will you please drop a note so that I can get some readers views here? I will be saving for this, it is a must have I am sure for all Led Zeppelin fans ( young and old).

I have a surprise coming up soon, wont say anything specific but all you Bay Area Fans… keep an eye out in the next week or so, you will not be let down!!!

While I am finishing some project work for the blog I am in my Dio mode…. so here is todays choices for my fav video ~

Holy Diver ~

I miss the heavy handed sounds of the 80′s rock bands, the pounding of your heart notes. I wonder how the teens of today get through a day listening to music that does not have that sound. I am told Wolf Mother is a band I will have to spend more time listening to, and I agree. It is just bloody hard to not compare each and every band I hear today to the bands of my youth.( holy crap, did I just write ‘my youth’? OMG I am so not that old, at least not in my mind I’m not)

I would pay almost any amount of money to be able to see a show that had Dio, Montrose, Nugent, Motorhead, Ozzy, Y&T…… the list is endless. When I get to heaven, that is the first thing I am asking the Lord for…… a totally sweet concert with all the greats.

So, who makes up your all time line up of the greatest Heavy Metal Bands of all time? Leave word here and if I get enough of a response, I will do a line up of videos based on the most listed Bands.

Back later peeps……..

Peace
