Kip Winger to do Interview with Melodic Rock Concerts… got some questions?

Melodic Rock Concerts has got to be one of the best sites for Rock that I have found in some time. It is a a place where once you have read you always check in weekly and you are never disappointed. Some of the more well known sites could definitely take a few notes on how to keep your readership happy from them!

They are also introducing a new inclusion on the site, Rock Concerts Weekly. The first show will be done with some audience participation, and they are asking the fans to call and leave them a message with your questions, comments, thoughts about favorite rocks shows

This week the site reports that they will be doing an interview with Kip Winger of Winger. That’s right ladies, that Winger ;-) . If you have questions for Kip, email the site!

and Easy Come , Easy Go ~

and now, Karma. I am really liking Stone Cold Killer. 18 said, they stole the song and sound from Disturbed, specifically referring to the sounds of Pull Me Under ( another awesome call back to the icy sounds of 80s rock! ) I am definitely buying this album, and hope to see them on the circuit in the states soon. I also referred 18 to their best of album from 2001 which she can listen to on their website ( here ) She then battled back with this from Disturbed on youtube – Guarded

One of the best parts of Melodic Rock Concerts site is the really interesting blogs and sites they link to, such as Bring Back Glam. Spent some time reading over there and found a like minded writer who has the desire to see Glam ( and rock ) brought back to where it can be a shining star again!

Of course, my favorite from them is always going to be Down with the Sickness :-) * always love the noise *

And now, off to bed with me. Snow is falling yet again and I am wishing for warmth so some Sammy will do me good. Hope you enjoy and I am glad to be back to writing here. Hope you all have had a great holiday time, now lets go do some damage in 2010 :-)

Getting Down with Disturbed……..

Okay, went to the under 40 set for my vid picks for tonight, as I had promised before that I would be more open to what the youtube generation is hearing ….. and got two great choices for tonight! I have to say that I heard Get Down with the Sickness in the movie Dawn of the Dead ( which my family watches when ever they get a chance)
This week has been up and down, and the thing that best picks me up is a loud, raucous set of tunes.

These two songs definitively did it for me, now I have to go steal my kids CD collection and see what else they are hiding on me! And no, I am not living under a rock. I have heard Thirty Seconds to Mars repeatedly in my house, I just up until now have been tuning them out. Now I know better…..

Enjoy ~

New KOME Decal Pix Uploaded by Metroman @ Flickr

METROman has uploaded a bunch of photographs of KOME Decals in various forms at his Flickr account! I send my biggest thanks for being allowed to post here as well.:-)

Here is my favorite photo ~

Okay, so they are all my favorite photos, I just can never decide :-)

Now for today’s post ~

I was thinking about how Rock Radio has evolved from the early 70′s to now. And many folks have voiced the same concern I have come to, Rock Radio seems to not be in existence on the air waves today. Classic Rock yes, Rock music of today no. Why? Because Rock the way we remember it ( well, the way I do anyway) just does not exist anymore. We have the bands of the 60s through the 90s touring now for sure, but where are the new bands?
I really want to know what it was that changed in the kids minds to have made such a drastic switch. My oldest daughter tells me about all the new bands that kids today consider rock and roll. I want to get into them a bit here and contrast them to some of my favorite bands just to see if it is just me who has not evolved or if Rock is really persona non grata.

* I have been warned by my daughter to not dis her bands, lol to be fair or else; and so I shall be *

Band number one from today’s music culture ~ Tool

And Disturbed ~ Stricken

And lastly ~ Chevelle * and the video is from one of the movies I thought absolutely rocked – 300!*

So far, not bad not bad at all! Maybe my view of rock being extinct is extreme. Some of the other bands I checked out but did not link up for space issues are Five Finger Death Punch a sort of Metallica-ish sounding band, Avenge Sevenfold, whose Afterlife is a pretty slamming tune that got my attention. Here is the link for their official Youtube video for Afterlife. We also now have Sixx AM who I do not really include in this study since MC has been around and I am hard wired to love what ever they do as MC or separately. Last but not least is Buckcherry who has been touring with Motley Crue this year * be careful tho if ya have kids in the room when you listen to their album Black Butterfly on the website!* Oops, another band to add in really quick is Black Stone Cherry , check out their video Lonely Train it rocks.

So it seems I may have been way off and just missing my bands, my distinct sound.I will admit that a short search has reveled that Rock is still around, still beating its noise into the brains of innocent kids all over the world. This is as it should be :-) What does become clear is that there are fewer major Rock Bands to listen to, compared to what we had back in the day.

I will be doing more research on this topic in coming days, and of course will always be on the look out for new bands but I remain a skeptic that rock is what I remember. Is that bad, maybe not; but I also do not want to think I am so close minded that I can no longer hear the music, that would stink. So, what do you think about the state of Rock and Roll today?

And as always, please visit each Bands Official Websites that are linked here in this post and also will be posted on the Artist Page.
