I did not even know there was a Hard Rock Park, but I am glad that I got the alert today about the article concerning the Park from Rollingstone Magazine.
Seems the park had been suffering some financial issues but now has been saved from Bankruptcy after being bought by FPI MB Entertainment for $25 million. That is small change in the Park arena I believe but from looking at Hard Rock Park’s Website one can see this is one hell of a nice park to go hang out at.
Of course what grabbed my attention in Rollingstone’s piece was the mention of a Led Zeppelin Roller Coaster, who would have thought?
You can check out the park and all it’s attractions via this map page on the website for Hard Rock Park. They have a ton of sections in the park to check out, each looks really entertaining. The main page states they will be opening in 2009, so folks who live near Mrytle Beach South Carolina can check out the website for firm opening dates.
There is also information on the website about local hotels, things to keep the kids contained and happy and of course ticket prices which the site states will be posted soon. I know my kids would love to check this out, as would I. I need a vacation some where that is not only fun but near a beach!
What I found interesting was that this was NOT in California, that state just seems so natural for Rock Music for me; guess I am getting old.
In 1969 a awesome musical storm was about to break out, Led Zeppelin. Their influence would stretch from the late 60s all the way to 2009 and beyond. The love that fans of Led Zeppelin have for the band is so obvious, as is seen by the hundreds if not thousands of comments I have been reading at various websites these last few months concerning Led Zeppelin getting back together. Each fan had opinions, but all were in agreement that we were musically blessed by this band of magical musicians.
The first album recorded by the group was Led Zeppelin, done in October of 1968 at Olympic Studios in London and released by Atlantic on the 12th of January. I am so glad that I became a member of the Led Zeppelin Family of Fans, I can not imagine my world with out Led Zeppelin in it.
Well, thank YOU BBC and NME for checking dates and facts! Before any one says I am a dumb ass, let me state that I was NOT the only one to bite on that report by NME, MTV and Rollingstone Mag also ran with it! Don’t believe me? I saved the screenshot’s of each of the big boy reports just for my own sanities sake.
This teaches me one thing (and I as a researcher should have done this) go in search of the original source story, and do not post until this is done. Had I done what I was trained to do in school I would have been the one to break this story instead of Music Radar ( kudos to ya, but unfair advantage in that you all can actually CALL the management and ask questions, if I were to do that the Sec would hang the phone asap)
My thoughts? Thank god I have all the music, and I can still hold out hope that Jimmy will do music on his own for his fans, and maybe have the remaining members with him? He could call it the NOT Led Zeppelin Band, or something. I really do not care as long as I can sit and hear them live, so call it what ever.
Sorry for passing along misinformation but this shows us (me) how truly unrestrained the net is for information, and you better be checking original sources each time you do a post. I know I will from now on.
Oh, update on that idea of mine to ask Jimmy for an interview. I sent an email off to who I was told was his Management last evening……… I will let you know what I hear if I ever do! Can not imagine what I would do if Jimmy actually said yes, I guess write the interview questions up after I wake up from the coma
Today was the flash point for me, I truly mean it.
I have read in the past few days that Jeff Beck has something to say about the Tour, Paul McCartney and now Paul Weller weighs in. As if I, a fan of Led Zeppelin wants to hear what you all think.
Blabbermouth has been posting these diatribes for bit now and while I appreciate the honest fan giving his or her voice to this issue I can not sit still while some rock star decides it is his duty to pressure the remaining members of the band to do what he or she wants.
From the very day that Led Zeppelin, in fact each band began the one thing they needed, wanted , desired was fan support. And Led Zeppelin certainly has that, and it is so deserved. But we the fans are the reasons for your success, we supported you both emotionally and financially for years, should our words be considered more carefully than the words of your cohorts in the field?
We deserve to hear and see Led Zeppelin period. Now I can understand the way most of the fans have been reacting online, most do not want this tour to be a Led Zeppelin without Sir RP ( me, I could care less if he were to be there or not, I do not think his voice is up to level for a song like Ten Years Gone, just my humble opinion) but I sure do want to see Jimmy and the rest of the band. Hell they can sit on stage and preform Mary had a freaking little lamb and I would be honored to have paid for the show. I can not help myself, I just want to sit down and close my eyes and hear them sing and play.
Why make this all complicated with the crisis of should it be Led Zeppelin with RP?
Mr Plant, it is your duty to each and every fan to come out and endorse this tour for our sakes. We supported you, please support us in our desire to see the band. When you come out and support not only the fans but your band mates you will end all this needless back and forth by those who do not have a right to be in the fray. If you do not wish it to be called Led Zeppelin, fine… call it what ever you want to, just give the fans who were unable to see you back in the day the ability to see the band now.
In case I have not made my wishes known above, I want to see Led Zeppelin, with or without Robert Plant, and I could care less what you call it because I am still going to pay handsomely to see you!
And Mr Page, in case you have just happened to come here , I would love to interview you!no… I would give my right arm to interview you! * I would give children, but the law seems to frown upon that behavior for some weird reason *
Okay, now for the video choice of today~
I did get a chance to see the Who, 1989 CA. Did they rock, of course…. but this performance from New York for 9/11 was one for the memory books and the title song – Who Are You fits my mood, call this my OpEd to those who feel its up to them to decide if we get to see a band or not. ( plus, anything that shows off the Fireman, Policemen and the Troops is aces in my books!!!)
Enjoy, peace and remember to please visit and support the Artists I list here.
After reading a week or so ago the trash talk that is passing for written words concerning Led Zeppelin ( by Mick Wall) in a San Jose Mercury Piece, I was so happy to see that there is another book out on the most awesome of bands, Whole Lotta Led Zeppelin: The Illustrated History of the Heaviest Band of All Time, by Jon Bream.
This looks like it is going to be a great read with all the flavor and feel that we are inspired to feel while listening to the band.
If you have read it will you please drop a note so that I can get some readers views here? I will be saving for this, it is a must have I am sure for all Led Zeppelin fans ( young and old).
I have a surprise coming up soon, wont say anything specific but all you Bay Area Fans… keep an eye out in the next week or so, you will not be let down!!!
While I am finishing some project work for the blog I am in my Dio mode…. so here is todays choices for my fav video ~
Holy Diver ~
I miss the heavy handed sounds of the 80′s rock bands, the pounding of your heart notes. I wonder how the teens of today get through a day listening to music that does not have that sound. I am told Wolf Mother is a band I will have to spend more time listening to, and I agree. It is just bloody hard to not compare each and every band I hear today to the bands of my youth.( holy crap, did I just write ‘my youth’? OMG I am so not that old, at least not in my mind I’m not)
I would pay almost any amount of money to be able to see a show that had Dio, Montrose, Nugent, Motorhead, Ozzy, Y&T…… the list is endless. When I get to heaven, that is the first thing I am asking the Lord for…… a totally sweet concert with all the greats.
So, who makes up your all time line up of the greatest Heavy Metal Bands of all time? Leave word here and if I get enough of a response, I will do a line up of videos based on the most listed Bands.
Many thanks to 70′s Classic Rock Blog for the heads up on this Contest, if you are a Zeppelin fan, *and who in the world is not??? * you need to run, not walk to this website – WholeLottaLedZeppelin – and place your entry for a Autographed Fender Squire Stratocaster signed by the members of Led Zeppelin!!!
Can we just trade kids? A House? Nah, guess that wont fly. I entered of course, and if I win you will hear me screaming from the moon!
On other Zeppelin news…. I was listening to Greg Kihn’s morning show on KFOX and he was talking about how Zeppelin had considered Steven Tyler for lead at one point? Okay, I like Steve fine, as the lead of Aerosmith, but as a lead to Zeppelin … just don’t think so.
So where is the whole reunion tour right now? Well, from what I can find out so far via the numerous websites and postings at news sites there is a new Biography by Mick Wall ~
according to a report in the Sunday edition of the San Jose Mercury, Led zeppelin authority Mick Wall who has written a Biography of the band entitled When Giants Walked The Earth ( amazon here) says that a reunion is “unlikely’ due to Plants state of current happiness singing with Alison Krauss who Plant is touring with and did an album; Raising Sand with.
Mick also states that Page “is a shadow of his former self, who finds it impossible to leave the pomp of the past behind“. I have to wonder about Page being a “shadow of his former self”, from what I have read and heard he is on top of the world but Mick is said to know and have interviewed the members of Zeppelin many times so I guess he would know.
Mick also states that another reason Plant wont be jumping hurdles to reunite for a tour with the other members of Zeppelin is that the old gang is as Mick put it, a bunch of grumps.
I question why a person who is said to have had a falling out with Page over the book, and who is reported to have harsh things to say about Page would even be interviewed for an impartial report…. where is the state of reporting heading anyway?
I would die if I were able to get an interview with Page, I have heard his playing recently, and have viewed some of the youtube videos of the Reunion shows in England and he seems to be the same great talent he always has been, maybe better.
Seems that Page has threatened to sue Mick over his book, I hope we at least have another bio from a far less jaded author. I also find it funny that Mick states he has a bad thing going on between him and Page yet he used Page’s image on the cover of the book….
If you are interested in buying the book, you can check Orion the publisher or from Amazon , priced at 29.75 plus a 2.00 sourcing fee ( wth?) since this is an import.
And now, since it has been forever since I placed a vid here, check out this rehearsal video Led Zeppelin doing Ten Years Gone from 1996 ~ ( trying to tell me Page is not his great self, get real! Hey Page, you should do yourself a favor and check out Virtual Zeppelin on the web, just in case Plant is to busy to give his fans a show )
