Who knew?

That I would actually begin to hate writing about Robert Plant? I mean, I see his name in my alerts box and think, oh no…… not again!

Grammy’s, yes he won a few. And I hear that he was going around saying this trip he is on artistically is where he wanted to be after Zeppelin III. Excuse me … I think I just threw up a bit in my mouth.

Okay, for all the fans of RP ( all 12 of u ) I am a tiny bit sorry. Sorry I have to even come here and talk about him at all, but since he is still running around trying to explain why he wont tour with LZ I have no choice. I wish he would just come out and state for the record that he will not tour because he could not sing Ten Years or Kasmir again if his life depended on it, not even if he were lit on fire. RP, your voice is gone dude.

oh and what is this… when accepting the Grammy, Plant said “in the old days we would have called this selling out..” wtf? Selling out, dude your just tickled pink you got some Grammy’s and mad as hell that it was NOT with LZ. Maybe it was you? The only Grammy that you ever got outside these was with a song you wrote with Jimmy Page. So what does that tell you?

Gah, I am really sorry, but seriously he wont tour but has no problem doing The Battle of Evermore, When The Levee Breaks, Black Dog with Krauss on tour?

RP you have betrayed each and every fan you ever had with this behavior, selling out? Yep that is the truth to be sure…………………..

Goodbye 2008 ~ Hello 2009

The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire welcomes a new member today, Robert Plant is now a CBE. Now as much as I love History and consider myself to be extremely well read, I had to go look up what the hell a CBE was. Now I know. I have read t hat it is said to stand for 1. Covers Bloody Everything and 2. Commander. Do they give swords with that? Anyway, Plant is now part of this order for “services to music”. I congratulate Mr. Plant and wonder what his coat of arms looks like and do we now call him Sir Robert Plant ? What a time warp from The Song Remains the Same, bet they did not think they would end up as part of the Royal Order back then.

So, in a matter of hours here in the eastern part of the US it will finally be 2009. So much of last year was stinky to say the least, but so much was so great. I am not one of those revelers who stay up until midnight to see the ball drop ( can not imagine why anyone would stand in Times Square just for that ) nor do I party this night. It is just another night for me, and the only thing that will make me think about it being a new year is the fact that it will take me until June of 2009 to get the date correct when I write it on paper.
I guess it is due to my being older, these countdowns just remind me of the past, of what I should have done or not done and how I have fewer years left now to accomplish my goals. Now before you think I am being a total downer, I do love the newness of a new year. News Years Day is my sons birthday for one thing and he loves that the whole world parties on his B day :-) . And I love that since it is January I have only three more months until the plants come out and the world once again wakes up.

My hopes for 2009? That I can be a better person than I have been up until now, that I am a blessing to those who cross my path and that I can truly know peace and happiness.

Whole Lotta Guitar Sweepstakes and Biography – When Giants Walked The Earth

Many thanks to 70′s Classic Rock Blog for the heads up on this Contest, if you are a Zeppelin fan, *and who in the world is not??? * you need to run, not walk to this website – WholeLottaLedZeppelin – and place your entry for a Autographed Fender Squire Stratocaster signed by the members of Led Zeppelin!!!

Can we just trade kids? A House? Nah, guess that wont fly. I entered of course, and if I win you will hear me screaming from the moon!

On other Zeppelin news…. I was listening to Greg Kihn’s morning show on KFOX and he was talking about how Zeppelin had considered Steven Tyler for lead at one point? Okay, I like Steve fine, as the lead of Aerosmith, but as a lead to Zeppelin … just don’t think so.
So where is the whole reunion tour right now? Well, from what I can find out so far via the numerous websites and postings at news sites there is a new Biography by Mick Wall ~

according to a report in the Sunday edition of the San Jose Mercury, Led zeppelin authority Mick Wall who has written a Biography of the band entitled When Giants Walked The Earth ( amazon here) says that a reunion is “unlikely’ due to Plants state of current happiness singing with Alison Krauss who Plant is touring with and did an album; Raising Sand with.

Mick also states that Page “is a shadow of his former self, who finds it impossible to leave the pomp of the past behind“. I have to wonder about Page being a “shadow of his former self”, from what I have read and heard he is on top of the world but Mick is said to know and have interviewed the members of Zeppelin many times so I guess he would know.

Mick also states that another reason Plant wont be jumping hurdles to reunite for a tour with the other members of Zeppelin is that the old gang is as Mick put it, a bunch of grumps.
I question why a person who is said to have had a falling out with Page over the book, and who is reported to have harsh things to say about Page would even be interviewed for an impartial report…. where is the state of reporting heading anyway?

I would die if I were able to get an interview with Page, I have heard his playing recently, and have viewed some of the youtube videos of the Reunion shows in England and he seems to be the same great talent he always has been, maybe better.

Seems that Page has threatened to sue Mick over his book, I hope we at least have another bio from a far less jaded author. I also find it funny that Mick states he has a bad thing going on between him and Page yet he used Page’s image on the cover of the book….

If you are interested in buying the book, you can check Orion the publisher or from Amazon , priced at 29.75 plus a 2.00 sourcing fee ( wth?) since this is an import.

And now, since it has been forever since I placed a vid here, check out this rehearsal video Led Zeppelin doing Ten Years Gone from 1996 ~ ( trying to tell me Page is not his great self, get real! Hey Page, you should do yourself a favor and check out Virtual Zeppelin on the web, just in case Plant is to busy to give his fans a show )

and check out Zeppelin’s YOUTUBE site

Check out Chilli’s Radio Station ~
